After purchasing the business in 1975 Dave and Ellen changed the name of the business to Schmitz's Super Valu. In 1979 they doubled the size of the building to 14,256 square feet and completely remodeled the store. The name of the business was changed to Schmitz's Super Valu discount Foods in 1987 and the business stayed at this location until 1991.

Dave and Ellen closed the Super Valu store on 1-1-1991, but moved to the south end of Spooner into a 33.500 square foot store. They changed suppliers to the Nash Finch Co. and changed the name of the business to Schmitz's Economart. The business has done well and remains at this location to this day. However, in 1997 a 17,500 square foot addition was put on the building and the store was completely remodeled. It is now a large store at 50,000 square feet and is one of the most modern supermarkets in northern Wisconsin.
